Swim & Waterfront

One of the unique and incredible features of the Everwood Day Camp program is the access we have to the incredible Lake Massapoag, a beautiful 350 acre, spring fed lake. We have two beach areas, one for our middle and upper campers and one for our lower campers, which provide us with the opportunity to host a multitude of water activities right here at home. We do not have to transport our campers anywhere to enjoy activities such as the Wibit (inflatable obstacle course on the water), fishing, kayaking, sailing, canoeing and kayaking, tubing, and racing each other in our 16 person war canoes. Everything is available to our campers just by walking down to the lakefront, where they can spend more time enjoying the natural waterfront and the opportunities it provides.

Of course, swimming is a key part of our day camp program, as we believe swimming is one of the most important life skills a child can learn. At Everwood we use the American Red Cross Swim Program, including the Preschool Aquatics Levels 1-3 and Learn-to-Swim Levels 1-6. Everwood Day Camp’s swim lesson are in small groups with trained lifeguards and swim instructors and supported by our general camp counselors. All of our campers grades Pre-K through 4th grade have a swim lesson every day. 5th graders and older can choose swim instruction as one of their electives.

All of our campers from 4-15 also have a “Free Swim” period each day, where campers and counselors can just simply play either in the water or on the beach with their group mates! Please note that campers must pass American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Level 3 to swim in deeper water, and that all campers must wear lifejackets while engaged in waterfront activities outside of our swim areas (e.g., boating, wibit, etc).
